iHOPE Brings Middle Eastern Perspectives on Child Abduction to The Hague

The Hague, Netherlands – May 2025 – In a significant step towards fostering international understanding and cooperation in complex family law matters, iHOPE recently delivered a crucial presentation in The Hague, shedding light on the unique challenges and pathways in international child abduction cases involving the Middle East.

On Tuesday, May 20th, iHOPE’s CEO, Atty. Mohamad Al Ayouby, was invited to lead a meeting organized by the Dutch Central Authority. The Central Authority is a department within the Ministry of Justice and Security. It is responsible for implementing the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and handling both incoming and outgoing requests related to international child abduction, including requests for the return of a child and for arrangements for international contact.

The importance of the meeting was underscored by the presence of key stakeholders in Dutch and international child protection. Invited participants included representatives from the International Child Abduction Center, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Council for Child Protection.

Atty. Al Ayouby specifically focused on international child abduction as seen from the perspective of countries within the Middle East, providing a comprehensive presentation with a detailed overview of the intricate legal landscape. The discussion focused primarily on:
